Avengers: Infinity War – 8 Biggest Reveals From The Tie-In Comic

Posted on

Marvel’s MCU tie-in comics usually release to an unceremonious reception, but with hype for Avengers: Infinity War at an all time high, and with fans equally desperate to learn everything they can before its release, the most recent comic has been granted a rather unprecedented level of importance.

Billed as a direct prelude to the Russo Brothers’ latest Marvel offering, Marvel’s latest tie-in comic has largely lived up to that name, clueing in fans on some rather important deets ahead of Infinity War’s April release. It’s more than just a glorified companion piece however, and while others will view the comic’s links to the current canon with suspicion, Will Corona Pilgrim and Tigh Walker’s tie-in is a very enjoyable read replete with the kind of teases that are bound to get fans talking over the coming weeks.

It hasn’t spilt all the beans quite yet, but it has lent credence to some of the speculation surrounding Infinity War’s story, including Steve Rogers’ conflicted ideology, the status of several Avengers and just what, exactly, Bucky is doing in Wakanda.

8. Hawkeye Has Officially Retired (Again)

Love them or hate them, Hawkeye’s family is set to feature again in Avengers: Infinity War, with the most recent tie-in placing Barton well and truly away from the superhero routine and back at his ranch.

Logic would’ve perhaps dictated that Barton, now a fugitive of the law, would remain on the run with Steve and the rest of the supposedly ‘secret’ Avengers. Instead, he’s chilling with his wife and kids again, and while that would in theory paint a target on their backs, Barton’s home has been off the books for years now, consigned to secrecy by Nick Fury when he was still Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

In any case, it’s clear that this retirement will again only be temporary. Hawkeye has been pictured suited and booted in both Infinity War and Avengers 4, and with rumours implicating his family in a rather tragic event, one that compels him to again pick up the bow and potentially adopt a new identity, the fact he is at home in this comic could yet lend weight to those rumours.

Granted, Barton’s constant resurfacing could be seen as a bit of a gag at this point, but one can’t help but get the feeling that the reason for this Avengers call-up, is one steeped in tragedy…
